D-Tree Grammars

چکیده
DTG are designed to share some of the advantages of TAG while overcoming some of its limitations. DTG involve two composition operations called subsertion and sisteradjunction. The most distinctive feature of DTG is that, unlike TAG, there is complete uniformity in the way that the two DTG operations relate lexical items: subsertion always corresponds to complementation and sister-adjunction to modification. Furthermore, DTG, unlike TAG, can provide a uniform analysis for wh-movement in English and Kashmiri, despite the fact that the wh element in Kashmiri appears in sentencesecond position, and not sentence-initial position as in English.

Alternating Regular Tree Grammars in the Framework of Lattice-Valued Logic
In this paper, two different ways of introducing alternation for lattice-valued (referred to as {L}valued) regular tree grammars and {L}valued top-down tree automata are compared. One is the way which defines the alternating regular tree grammar, i.e., alternation is governed by the non-terminals of the grammar and the other is the way which combines state with alternation. The first way is ta...

متن کاملExploring the Underspeciied World of Lexicalized Tree Adjoining Grammars
This paper presents a precise characterization of the underspeciication found in Lexicalized Tree Adjoining Grammars, and shows that, in a sense, the same degree of underspeciication is found in Lexicalized D-Tree Substitution Grammars. Rather than describing directly the nature of the elementary objects of the grammar, we achieve our objective by formalizing the way in which underspeciication ...
متن کاملMultiple Context-Free Tree Grammars and Multi-component Tree Adjoining Grammars
Strong lexicalization is the process of turning a grammar generating trees into an equivalent one, in which all rules contain a terminal leaf. It is known that tree adjoining grammars cannot be strongly lexicalized, whereas the more powerful simple context-free tree grammars can. It is demonstrated that multiple simple context-free tree grammars are as expressive as multi-component tree adjoini...
متن کاملContextual Tree Adjoining Grammars
n rhi.\' pape1; 1i:e introduce a formalism called contextual tree adjoining grammar (CTAG). (::TAG.~ are a generalization of multi bracketed contextual reivriting gramnwrs (MBICR) which combine tree adjoini11g grammars (TAGs) and co11textual grammars. The generalization is to add a mechanism similar to obligatory adjoi11i11g in TAGs. Here, we present the definition o.f the model and some result...
